East Jordeston is a Grade 2 listed 16th century former farmstead in an idyllic location surrounded by pleasant farmland on the south facing flanks of the upper Ritec valley, close to the picturesque village of St Florence, and ideal for exploring the countryside and spectacular scenery of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. There is a variety of cottages sleeping from four to eight people.

"The cottages here at East Jordeston were mostly the old farm workers cottages and outbuildings. We've gradually upgraded them over the years and now they're up to 5-star holiday accommodation standard. East Jordeston Cottages 1

Of course it helps that Phil, my husband, is an architect, and he's made sure that the renovation has been done, not only to a very high standard, but it's environmentally very sound too.

There's an exceptionally high level of insulation to start with. And we've put in special Danish windows that have heat retaining properties, high efficiency, condensing boilers, underfloor heating and thermostatically controlled taps. Everything has been done to minimise the energy impact, while providing a very high level of comfort. So you can indulge in the private Finnish saunas that are in some of the cottages, without feeling guilty!
And when you're here there's just so much to enjoy. Just walking from here down the Ritec valley towards Penally is wonderful. The river apparently used to be navigable right up to St Florence and boats used to collect the grain from the old mill that was here. As a child I used to live in the house next door to the farm and we used to come here and play - building little dams in the river, that sort of thing - and we were always exploring. Nowadays, many of the guests come to explore too. And for the walking of course, it's just so good here. Others come for the historic houses, the arts and crafts, and of course the fantastic beaches. For us, it's the freedom, the sense of space that is just so attractive. And it doesn't seem to matter what time of year either. Believe me, there's nothing more exhilarating than watching really rough sea crash over the rocks on a crisp December morning!

We're open all year at East Jordeston, so we always have people for Christmas and New Year. But every month has something different to offer. That's why so many of our guests come back time and time again. People who have come in the summer come back and experience it at a different time of year. The county traps everyone I think - you know captivates them. Every season is different and uplifting. Since I was born here, you could say I know Pembrokeshire pretty well. But the amazing thing is I still have only scratched the surface of what Pembrokeshire has to offer!"
