An eighteenth century Manor House set in three acre grounds surrounded by spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside, Cuffern Manor represents spacious comfortable living at its best, with double , twin and single rooms. The (non-smoking) atmosphere is warm, friendly and very relaxed and an excellent base for walking the Pembrokeshire Coast path, soaking up local history and culture, or just having a well deserved break while enjoying the scenery.
"Everyone who stays here seems to fall in love with the house as much as we did when we first saw it. The house has a fascinating history. It was built by John Rees Stokes in about 1770. Stokes was a very important local family, living at nearby Roch Castle and at Scotchwell in Haverfordwest as well as here. One member of the family, John Lort Stokes even shared a cabin with Charles Darwin when he went on the worldwide trip gathering information that was later to become 'Origin of the Species'.
There's a beautiful one acre walled kitchen garden which had suffered from decades of neglect. We're gradually restoring it and have started to grow a lot of our own fruit and vegetables already. We have an old Pembrokeshire variety of apple here called Pig's Snout - because that's exactly what it looks like! We want to introduce other old varieties of fruit and vegetables into the garden too.
We specialise in delicious vegetarian and vegan food - using our own quality organic or fair traded food or local produce - so we're happy to provide an evening meal as well as breakfast.
Pembrokeshire is such a fantastic environment to live in and we do all we can to help maintain it. Recycling and composting of course and being as energy efficient as possible. We're also looking at solar panels and using grey water in the garden, even maybe introducing some reed beds.
Many of the people who stay with us are walkers or cyclists. And, if anyone is travelling by public transport then we are more than happy to collect them from Haverfordwest.
We're also attracting more and more groups and clubs. We're happy to welcome groups from 10 to 25 people for all kinds of activity: water sports, music, singing, complementary health, gardening, arts and crafts, writing. We even have our own library here with a fantastic selection of books. It's all here for you to enjoy!"
