"We get all sorts of people staying with us - families, walkers, archaeologists, outdoor pursuits people - and many come back year after year. They obviously love this peninsula and its open ruggedness as much as I do. Mind you, I'm biased: I was born in the farmhouse up the road and have grown up here among the birds, the plants and the amazing scenery. When you see the cliffs in May pink with thrift, it's simply fantastic. No wonder artists love it so much. My daughter, Rosalyn Cotton, is an artist and every year we produce a calendar featuring one of her paintings. We also commissioned another local artist, Diana Hoare, to carve a slate slab at the park's entrance in memory of my father. It has directional signs to places you can see such as Solva, Broad Haven and Skomer - and it's inscribed with the names of the birds that we used to have on the cliffs here when he was a boy. Thankfully, some of them are starting to come back as careful management has improved their habitat. There are certainly more choughs about. And we hope we'll see the curlews again one day.

We do all we can to look after the environment: recycling obviously, and using the most energy efficient equipment, such as category 'A' washing machines. We also reuse as much as we can. When we refurbished the shower blocks, for instance, the old shower trays got a new life as planters! We'll also be looking at solar panels when we redo the toilet blocks. My brother has gone even further; he has installed geothermal heating in his bungalow and a biogas generator which produces fuel for the Aga. The Caerfai Farm Shop belongs to him and you can buy milk, organic produce and other groceries there.
It's also only a short walk into St David's where you can get most other things you need. And of course there's the Bishop's Palace and the cathedral, which incidentally is being restored with sandstone cut from Caerbwdy Bay, the next bay to ours. Do visit St. Nons Chapel while you're here too. It's less than half a mile away along the coast path. According to tradition, it's where St Non gave birth to St David in the 6th century."
