Manorbier
Some of the most brightly-coloured and exciting creatures in Pembrokeshire live in the rock pools at Manorbier.
There are Blennies which change colour according to their background, algae of all colours, orange sponges, and strange looking Sea-hares which squirt out bright purple ink.
Manorbier is about five miles west of Tenby along the south coast.

Exploring the pools will reveal a secret world of fascinating plants and creatures in a range of colours from emerald green, gaudy pink, red, orange and purple.
Several species of anemones include the snakelocks and these are hoping to trap some of the other rock-pool inhabitants in their sticky snares.

Common Blennies are numerous but not always easy to spot as they change colour to help blend in with the background rocks and sand. Starfish, crabs, shrimps and prawns, top-shells, can also be easily found and during July and August bizarre looking Sea-hares (a mollusc) and sea-slugs can be found, though they are sometimes hard to spot.

At all times when exploring rock pools follow the code and take care not to disturb the animals that live here and replace any turned over stones carefully. Animals should not be kept for long periods, especially on hot days and preferably should be observed without removing them from the pools.
