The isolated village of Landshipping is a haven of peace and tranquility, belying the village's busy industrial heritage.

A ferry operated between Landshipping Quay and Picton in the 1700s although the quay was built for the coal industry. The coalmines have long since closed and the quays lie quiet offering the ideal spot for bird watching and other quiet pastimes.
