Since the earliest times man has left his mark on his surrounding landscape, from the beginning of agriculture to formal gardens. This section includes a selection of different examples of ‘designed landscapes’.

The Stackpole Estate

At its zenith in the 19th century it was a 7,000 ha coastal estate, developed by the Cawdor family, which stretched for over 15kms from Freshwater East to Freshwater West. Its centre was Stackpole Court, the site of which lies 8kms south west of Pembroke town in the far south western corner of Wales.
