Maesgwynne Farm
This farm on the outskirts of Fishguard was the site of a large Royal Marines camp during WW2.
It suffered several casualties during an air raid on the night of September 23, 1941 - the only bombing incident which affected the twin towns of Fishguard and Goodwick during the war. A German bomber dropped a single parachute mine which exploded, killing three young marines, Hugh Connolly, FJ brunt and RGH Wyles, and causing structural damage to properties in the area of West Street and the town square. Wyles was buried locally and his grave can be seen in Llanwnda cemetery.
