The Parish Church (St. Elidyr)
This church of St Elidyr may be on the site of a pre-Norman 'llan'. In 1150 it was handed over with 50 acres of Sanctuary Land and 2 ploughlands to the Knights Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem who had a Preceptory at Slebech.
Parish Church of St Elidyr
Local tradition attributes the re-building of the church to John Elliot who is said to have added a Chantry Chapel for the singing of masses for his own soul and the souls of those of his family who would be buried in the vault beneath. The church retains medieval work despite 19th century alterations. It was re-opened 12th July 1855 after partial re-building, and enlargement by 12ft. at the west end (R Kyrke Penson, architect, and Thomas Thomas Rhydgoch, contractor). There was extensive renovation again in 1899. The Vicarage built in 1886 was sold in 1980. In the churchyard are the remains of a preaching cross.
